Valentines Day is a day of romance for couples. It is a day that couples can express their love to one another through valentines cards, gifts and usually having a meal together.
As Valentines day this year falls on a friday, many couples may take the opportunity of going away for the weekend and turning it into a romantic weekend away. Of course one of the first choices for many would be to go to the city of love; Paris.
For those couples that decide to not go away, decisions are being made about whether to stay at home or to go out together to a restaurant, along with all the other couples on Valentines Day.
Going out for Valentines Day
There are many things to do by going out, the only thing is you are going out along with many other couples that have also chosen to this option. With Valentines Day this year falling on a friday, many people will also take this opportunity to go out as its the start of the weekend, another reason to visit a restaurant for a meal, rather than cook at home.
Going out for a meal is nice for the couple to not have to cook at home and clean up afterwards. Going out is also a good reason to get dressed up. If you don’t feel like three courses each then as a couple you could always share the starter or the dessert, which is quite romantic. Many restaurants will use Valentines Day to promote special offers and set menus to customers, to entice them to go out for a meal. Other things to do as a couple on Valentines Day is also go to the cinema or do an activity together like bowling, either before or after going for a meal, so that you’ve really made the most out on a special evening together.
Staying at Home for Valentines Day
Staying at home is good for those who like to stay in and relax together. Staying at home can also be quite relaxing after the week of work and being able to just stay at home together. It can also save quite a bit of money, if you decide to stay in rather than go out, but on the other hand will couples feel like staying in at home isn’t any different to staying it at home at a weekend.
To make staying home on Valentines Day romantic and different to any other weekend, there are many things to do. You could cook for your partner, or cook together. This is nice as it gets the couples involved with each other. The couple could have a candlelit dinner. Alternatively you could order a takeaway, to be delivered to your home and have a film ready to watch then settle down for the evening.
Going out and Staying in – Doing a bit of Both
For those couples that can’t decide what to do for Valentines Day, how about doing a bit of both. You could go to the cinema or go bowling and on the way home pick up a takeaway to then eat at home, whilst watching a romantic or sentimental film. Or for the other way round you could go out for a meal for a couple of hours, then go home to watch a film together. This is good for those couples that want a bit of both.
Whatever decision is made, make sure it is what you both want. If one of you wants to stay in but the other wants to go out, then there is the option of doing a bit of both and compromising. A lot of restaurants such as Pizza Express offer a takeaway service, so you get the great tastes of eating out for a meal, however this can be in the comfort of your own home. Just remember Valentines Day is one special day of the year that you can both celebrate your love for one another, so make sure that you enjoy yourselves and do the things you want to do.
